The People
The majority of residents of Yupiit School District communities are of Yup'ik descent, whose traditions and language predominate the way of life in the area.

Residents of the delta have a laid back, relaxed approach to life. Traveling from village to village, you will find a strong sense of community pride and spirit. Yupiit School District communities have small- town feel with friendly residents who gather together frequently for local events, arts and recreation.

Travel
Access to Yupiit School District and it's remote villages takes place mainly through air travel, as the area has no access to roads or typical roadside facilities and services. Snow machines (snowmobiles), boats and dog sleds are also used during specific times of the year. Bethel is home to the region's only major commercial airport servicing travelers venturing to and from the delta region.

Climate
On average, the delta region experiences 16 inches of precipitation per year, with snowfall measuring 50 inches. Winter temperatures measure an average of 19 to -20 degrees Fahrenheit. Summer temperatures range from 62 to 42 degrees Fahrenheit.
